The literary world eagerly anticipates the upcoming launch of two new books by Christopher ‘Tsepang Mawande’ Ncube, the acclaimed former Zimbabwean policeman turned author.
Ncube, whose debut novel, “Phakathi Kwelitshe Lembokodo”, has already garnered significant acclaim and recognition, is now set to introduce his latest works, “ZAJIKA IZINTO” and “KONAKELE”, to the readers.
The launch, scheduled for 6 April 2024 in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, will be hosted by the esteemed Ndebele Writers non-profit organisation, Abalobi Bakithi.
It promises to be a momentous occasion as Ncube unveils his latest literary offerings to an eager audience.
Ncube’s journey to literary success is a testament to his perseverance and talent. Born in Selonga village in Gwanda South, Matabeleland South Province, Ncube spent his formative years immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of his homeland. He attended Selonga schools for his primary and secondary education before pursuing his A Levels at Manama High School.
After completing his education, Ncube embarked on a career with the Zimbabwe Republic Police, serving diligently for eight years.
However, his passion for storytelling never waned, and he began writing in the early 1980s. Despite facing numerous challenges, including editors losing manuscripts and the difficult publishing landscape at the time, Ncube remained undeterred in his pursuit of literary success.

It was not until he found support from Abalobi Bakithi that Ncube had his breakthrough. With their guidance and assistance, his debut novel, “Phakathi Kwelitshe Lembokodo”, was finally brought to fruition, earning widespread acclaim and recognition.
The novel’s inclusion as an A Level setbook in Zimbabwe from 2022 to 2024 solidified Ncube’s reputation as a literary force to be reckoned with.
Now, with the impending release of “ZAJIKA IZINTO” and “KONAKELE”, Ncube continues to captivate audiences with his compelling narratives and rich storytelling. “NGANGINGAZI”, his second novel, is already slated to become an A Level Ndebele Literature setbook for 2025-2027, further cementing his legacy within Zimbabwean literature.
As the launch date approaches, anticipation mounts for what promises to be a momentous occasion in Zimbabwean literary circles. Christopher Ncube’s latest works are sure to leave an indelible mark on readers, further solidifying his status as one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated authors.
