Ake, Ederson, Stones - Man City injury news and return dates ahead of Aston Villa

Latest Manchester City injury news as Pep Guardiola will be waiting for the latest on Nathan Ake, John Stones, Kyle Walker and Ederson ahead of the Premier League clash vs Aston Villa

Manchester City have just a couple of days to recover from the draw with Arsenal before they are back in Premier League action.

City were held to a goalless draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Pep Guardiola’s side could not find the back of the net and missed out on the chance to gain ground on leaders Liverpool in the title race.

Liverpool climbed to the top of the Premier League table with victory over Brighton on Sunday. City’s draw with Arsenal leaves them in third place, three points behind the Anfield club, while Arsenal are second and one point ahead of City.

City will now prepare to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium. However, Guardiola is likely to have to go into the game without some of his key players due to injury.

Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake is the latest player to be added to City’s injury list ahead of the run-in.

Ake was replaced by Rico Lewis in the first half against Arsenal with an unspecified injury. It remains to be seen how long the defender will spend on the sidelines, with Guardiola likely to provide an update sometime this week.

Potential return date: Unknown.

Ederson

Ederson has been sidelined since March 10 with a leg injury he sustained in the draw with Liverpool.

There was hope that the Brazilian could recover in time to feature against Arsenal. However, Ederson was not in the matchday squad, and now it remains uncertain if City’s first-choice goalkeeper will be available for either Wednesday’s clash against Aston Villa or against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Potential return date: Unknown.

John Stones

John Stones suffered an adductor injury while on international duty with England.

Despite being ruled out for City’s clash against Arsenal, the defender was named on the bench but did not get any minutes. It remains to be seen if Stones will be available to face Aston Villa in midweek.

Potential return date: Aston Villa (H) – April 3.

Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker suffered a hamstring during England’s defeat to Brazil during the international break.

Walker had not recovered in time to feature against Arsenal at the weekend. Guardiola is likely to be asked for an update on the right-back’s fitness when he speaks to the media this week.

Potential return date: Unknown.
